Size don't matter in friendship

A. Rogers Oct. 2011

Today we had a Halloween party and parade. Thanks to some great moms and dads we had such a great time! We loved this little chicken, the little brother of one of our students, who came with mama to help us have a party. I absolutely LOVE this picture that I caught of one of my students talking with the chicken. I LOVE how they are enjoying each other's company.

A sunny moment

My sister brought the munchkins over to meet Luka. Jude couldn't get enough of her. I love this picture of him playing with her, throwing the ball for her to catch. I love the way the sun is beaming down on him and how you can tell, even though you can't see his face, that he is beaming as well!

Garn Tom Stanworth Nov. 5, 1925-Oct.18, 2011

Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away to the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
That, we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed

at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect.
Without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
There is absolute unbroken continuity.

Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you.
For an interval.
Somewhere. Very near.
Just around the corner.

All is well.

Ai- ya!

I saw the infomercial for this the other day and was so impressed I wanted to get it. I saw it at the store today and they were quite expensive, but this little guy was in my price range, so I snagged it! No more ice chips for me! Perfectly blended in seconds flat. Take that! *spinning aerial kick in the kitchen*

Mini musician

"I was born with music inside me. Music was one of my parts. Like my ribs, my kidneys, my liver, my heart. Like my blood. It was a force already within me when I arrived on the scene. It was a necessity for me-like food or water. " ~ Ray Charles

What is love?

"I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love."

It could have been worse...

.  .  . or so they say. They tell me it was just a hairline fracture. I hope that means it will heal really quickly.

Found a new sofa (the tan one) for $30 at a yard sale and the ottoman table at Target. Now I have much more seating, and it is more comfortable than the maroon, leather one. I think I like the new setup and I am thinking about getting a large microfiber love sack type of bag next month. A local store said they would have some around Thanksgiving and they are much less than I expected. Hooyah!

Reflections Fine Arts Competition

Today's Pictures of the Day are not spectacular shots, but they are cute, nonetheless. This year, I decided to do a class "quilt" for the Reflections competition. I have never done a class project for Reflections, but we were already learning about self esteem and self respect, accepting yourself the way you are, and such. We had already started a little art project where they draw a picture of themself and write, "I like being me because . . . ," and then I saw that the Reflections theme for this year was "Diversity Means . . ." and so I thought that we could easily turn it into a class project. Well, look how wonderfully it turned out, thanks to . . . moi. I have been working like crazy on this bad boy and I had it all put together then it was too big to go through the laminator, even if it was folded in half. So I had to cut it apart again, and then I decided to put it together like a tied quilt, rather than just retaping it. I think it turned out so cute.
