Remembering Christmasses past

"And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."
~ Luke 2:9-14

I have six of these little resin angels. My grandmother gave them to me about 7 or 8 years ago. They are all scratched up and most of them only have one wing. However, I can not part with them, because they once belonged to my great grandmother, Deeda. Every time I open up the box of decorations and unwrap them, I have to smile as I think of her and remember the Christmasses we spent with them in Los Angeles when I was a child. She was always so happy, and kind, and so excited to see the children open their presents. I sure do miss her!

Silent night

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."
~ Isaiah 9:6

Well, at least it's just what was left over after I had a bowl of cereal. But, she was still happy!

Grateful for silly moments

Every time I take a group shot, it is requisite that I MUST take a silly shot. It is teacher rule #304. If you want the kids to cooperate and get in the picture, you must promise to let them have a silly shot too. Here you go....

We started a last-minute-perfect-idea-especially-because-teacher-didn't-have-to-spend-a-penny-project yesterday. Gratitude Wreaths. I cut the center out of paper plates, which I already had. Then I cut out a bazillion die cut leaves and had the kids use Sharpies (yay for Sharpies! They love them) to write one thing they were grateful for on each leaf. Then they had to cover the plate with leaves and an awesome parent came with fabric when I called at the last minute. We made little bows and I strung a piece of yarn through the top. The kids decorated with glitter (curse glitter, but they love it) today.

Everyone who came in the past two days (teachers, aides, secretaries, custodians) was in love with our Gratitude wreaths. I guess it will have to be a tradition, but the glitter - not so much.

Colors of the season

Today was sorta gray and cloudy most of the day and not really exciting. However, the past few days, I have really been noticing the leaves changing colors and dropping. I love the golden color of the trees on our school grounds. I think they are spectacular!
